To Market, To Market

I often get asked 'where do you get your flowers from?'. I suppose living in the country raises questions like this, especially as we have very few - if any - flower farms close by. Every Tuesday morning at 1.15 I am woken by a shrill alarm that signals the start of my day. A quick cuppa and strong coffee in a travel cup are made, the car packed with buckets and off I go for my 4 hour round trip to the markets in Epping.

Epping Market from the sky

The Epping Markets are trade-only and are open from 3.30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (for flowers). This is the hub for all fresh flowers in Victoria and is always buzzing no matter what time I get there!

Making the weekly trip to Melbourne means I am able to source the best locally grown flowers - I often get told 'those flowers are amazing - I've never seen them before!' and this is what I aim for. I enjoy bringing little known or hard-to-get flowers down to the people of the Valley - I feel there are so many varieties of flowers that we never really see due to country limitations.

I am also lucky enough to have great suppliers who deliver to me later in the week - so you can be rest assured your flowers are always fresh, local and beautiful! Here are just some of my recent favourites: (clockwise l-r) Ranunculus, Juliet Roses, Peonies & Kalmia
