Tomorrow (8th September) marks Flowers by Rhi's first official birthday, so what better way to mark the occasion than by starting this blog! FBR was started by Rhi Tomholt in the little (big) town of Traralgon. I have always wanted to own my own business and decided to make a career change in 2013 from hospitality to floristry, mainly to feed my creativity, but also to have the opportunity to work with beautiful things every day of my life. I studied at the renowned private college Marjorie Milner College in Surrey Hills, Melbourne and graduated with Certificate III in Floristry in 2014.
I began doing weddings for friends at the end of 2013 but took a break mid 2014 to welcome my son into the world. Wedding season kicked off again in October 2014 and I haven't looked back!
The creation of 'The Daily Bloom' began when my son (Jimmy) was 4 months old. It came about after much research into floristry in the Latrobe Valley, and the realisation that something was missing. That something was affordable, fun & unique arrangements that could be ordered with ease, delivered the same day and made up of beautiful, seasonal, Australian grown blooms.
We're definitely not your 'average' florist. We don't use floral foam, everything we use in our wrapping is recycled/recyclable and there are absolutely no dyed roses or gerberas in sight! I know this means not everything we do will appeal to everyone, but we hope we can spread the word about local, environmentally friendly & sustainable floristry (where possible) to those who love what we do.
This blog will serve as a platform for me to answer questions you may have about my business, offer care tips & advice for your blooms and share fun stories about FBR!
Thank you, and happy birthday to us!
